MR60 is all over the place and keeps dropping

hi - I have an MR60 mesh router and for whatever reason, it periodically just slows down to less than 1MB. I have fiber and a one machine connected to ethernet, and that is never affected. However, WIFI just every so often falls off the cliff, even if you're in the room with the base router. I recently updated the firmware to V1.1.7.134_2.0.65 hoping that would help but it is still happening. I reboot which clears it up for a while but it always happens again. Most of the defaults I left alone so maybe there's something I can tweak? I dunno. If you have any advice, I'd really appreciate it. It's driving me nuts.
