First off, read the current state of the league address here.

Mt. Augusta/Loveshack vs. Aytos

This was the first game of the new NDZHL season and it was a rollercoaster. First, we've had scheduling problems with only having 7 teams in the league. One team in the Eastern Conference was going to have to play one less game than the others, and we had decided on that team to be Loveshack. However, before the game I saw Mt. Augusta only had 2 players and immediately saw an opportunity to fix the scheduling problems by having the two of them team up against Aytos. Since it was an Inter-Conference game I didn't think the results would matter that much anyways and thought it was a novel idea.

Apparently, neither Mt. Augusta nor Aytos thought so. At the end of the first period Aytos was up 1-0, when /u/spada81 cycled through his inventory bar and a sword popped out. In the NDZHL Charter it says under Article 3.5:

• 3.5: Every player must have an empty slot selected in their inventory tool bar, and no additional pieces of flint on their person when the game starts. Players are not allowed to cycle through their inventory tool bar once the game has begun and any players that brandish weapons can be penalized.

Joesiv gave spada a 30 second penalty which he apparently refused, citing that he didn't know the rule. However I'm sure we're all familiar with the Latin phrase, "Ignorantia juris non excusat" which means "Ignorance of the law is not an excuse." Spada and R3NNYB both walked off the ice after 2 and a half minutes of playing and refused to continue playing. For the second period, the Loveshack players came in to take their spots and apparently this upset Aytos, thinking that the league was pitting them against two teams. I thought I had explained well enough beforehand but apparently not because there was still some confusion as to what was going on. Anyways, Loveshack came from behind and won the game in the next two periods, with a final score of Mt. Augusta/Loveshack 3 - Aytos 1.

Roma vs. Brimstone

The host of Opening Day went up against the new expansion team from the Far West, Roma. It was a good game and Roma showed a lot of skill for being a newer team, scoring four goals, with each of their players getting in on the scoring parade. Brimstone started playing a bit dirtier to try and keep it close, and were penalized often for their actions. They were upset and right before the game ended they brought 4 players out onto the ice instead of 3 and the game was ruled a forfeit. They've received a warning and any further illegal action could result in a suspension from the league. The final score was Roma 4 - Brimstone 0.

Finally, Roma was going to play Swisston at the very end but unfortunately I got killed by a player from Brimstone accidentally and spawned 10km away. I'm not sure what happened after that but I messaged Joesiv, the other ref to thank everyone for coming out and that was that.
