So, likely we'll need to start getting information from everyone for next season's Player Registry. I'll make a post about this shortly. Here it is.
But for now I'd like to discuss how we go about acquiring players. Do we do a formal draft like last time? What about returning teams that need to fill some holes in their rosters?
I'd prefer doing a Free Agent Signing, where owners just sign players as they see fit. Opening Day will be wither the 21st or the 22nd depending on people's schedules, so that will give you plenty of time to talk to players and get them signed.
For owners not familiar with the signing rules, it's rather simple. The NDZHL enforces play salaries to add an element of realism and increase interest in the league. You must sign your players for some amount, however this amount cannot exceed 3D per player. Each team can have at most 6 players on the roster, if the owner is a player then there can only be 5. You can only sign people for at most 3 seasons, and when they're contracts run out they'll become free agents.
So, for example, most player salaries should be around 4-8i for a season. Unless you know someone is a superstar or you just want the most dedicated players there's really no need to offer a salary in diamonds. Player contracts must be paid before the season starts. Players can be traded throughout the season but the owner acquiring the player must pay off their salary to the old owner.
So what do you guys think? Draft or Signing?
Thanks! :D
