Post Body

Wow, lots of fans! I think we had more than we did for Opening Day. Next time I'll be sure to give an earlier warning on the main sub, considering how many people showed having just found out about the game 30 minutes beforehand!

First off, we played in the beautiful Mt. Augusta Ice Rink, and boy is it impressive. After waiting for the Shovels to arrive we finally got to play the league's first 3v3 match!

I started as ref, letting Lowtuff get his first game experience in, with neondan99 and peakman2 backing him up. Wanado144, R3YNNB, and Mathew2w were on the Avalanche's side, and the game began.

Peakman2 showed off that he's great at both ends of the rink and scored the first goal quickly knocking the home team down a notch. However, Wanado and R3YNNB were able to answer each with their own goals, and it started looking bad for the Shovels.

The Avalanche came out swinging for the second period, and Wanado was able to score 3 goals with the help of his team. The Avalanche definitely have their offensive skills honed to an unreal degree.

Finally, with the third period about to start TheTrackball shows up with a diamond block to use as the puck and says the winner gets to keep it. With the stakes raised I came off the sidelines and replaced neondan, and let beanbagtraveler and neondan co-ref the third period together.

The Shovels started off strong, hitting hard and making up for being out-hit the first two periods. Avalanche were able to withstand the blows though, and the teams were in a gridlock. Peak was able to score two goals in the final period, and we kept Mt. Augusta from scoring any, but unfortunately Mt. Augusta was able to prevent us from scoring quick enough. They had excellent puck movement and were able to intercept passes, and in the end they were the victors.

Final score: Mt. Augusta 5 - Swisston 3

Thanks to everyone who made it possible. We'll need to schedule two games between Little Latvia and Mt. Augusta, and then we'll be able to hold the playoffs next week. Get hyped!

Thanks! :D
