Hi! I graduated with my ASN in December of 2023. It’s my first college degree and being an RN has been my goal for as long as I can recall.
I took the NCLEX for the first time on February 10th (which was a Saturday) and I was feeling horrible about it. I got all 150 and I sobbed the whole rest of the day. I ended up paying for quick results that Monday (since I took it on a weekend) and my heart dropped as I saw the words, “FAIL” across my screen. I felt like such a failure. All of my classmates made beautiful posts about passing and the other new grads at my job all had their shiny red RN badges the next week at work. Ofc EVERYONE knew I was taking the exam and I was bombarded with questions on how I did the next day I worked. I had to cry and recollect myself a few times throughout the day.
45 days later I was able to retest again which was yesterday at 1:00pm (which also happens to be Good Friday & the start of the weekend). I was feeling SO confident, I talked through every choice and was able to provide myself with rationales. I had about 6 long case studies but luckily 2 of them were cardiac related (I’ve been orientating at a heart hospital) so I was able to quickly identify what I believed to be the correct answers.
I refused to check what question I was on so I wouldn’t lose hope. I decided to peek just once and I was on question 84. Then after the next question, my test ended. Although I feel so much better compared to last time, I really just want to know my results!
My manager said if I don’t have my license by April 18th, I have to be demoted back to a patient care tech. I really am trying to stay hopeful. I work all weekend so that should provide some distraction.
Does anyone have any experience with taking the exam on a Friday and how long results took to populate? I’m losing my mind! Thanks in advance and good luck to all of you future nurses out there, you’ve got it! ❤️
