Hey guys, I don't tend to follow other teams as far as development goes but my own Spurs. If I had to say what we're good at is teaching players how to shoot and play off-ball.
I'll go back to Kawhi Leonard. Although his 3 pt % stayed the same, his volume increased from 1.7 3PA rookie year to 5.2 3PA his last healthy season on the spurs. Following Kawhi, Dejounte Murray is the perfect example, he went from 27% from 3 his first full season (to 0.3 3PA) all the way to 33% from 3 last Spurs season (4.3 3PA). Our shooting coach left but I think we're still doing good. Taking a look on Sochan for instance; 25% from 3 rookie season (2.4 3PA) vs 31% this season (3.1 3PA).
With all things considered I'm not worried as a whole about our team developing shooters so I'm higher on bad shooters than not. Castle, Matas, Holland and to a lesser extent Topic are players I can imagine the spurs improving shooting-wise. I believe drafting an already good shooter helps Wemby right now but it might hinder the overall potential of the team when it comes to other facets of the game. For instance, size unfortunately can't be taught so I'm lower on Dillingham than others while he's also worse defensively than Reed.
TLDR: I think shooting isn't a huge concern especially if your team has history developing it. Also what facet is your team good at developing and how does that affect draft night?
