Everyone complaining about steals being op in 23. But Iāve played as a pg and a lock. The trick is to keep the ball on the side away from the defender and youāll get fouled instead of ripped. Pgs just wanna dribble on defenders and complain when they get they shit stolen instead of switch they game up
Edit: Iām giving yāall game in the comments. Yāall can blame the game sum more or learn a new bag
No they didnāt Iām still ripping dummies
I wouldnāt mind an interceptor nerf it wouldnāt unbalance the game. But nerfing on ball will give pgs the advantage over locks theyāve had for yeaars
I had that problem for a long time and avoided rec. only played park w randoms and had a god awful win %. Once I met a few good people I started running rec with a squad I knew, next thing you know my win percent was top tier. People can blame the game all they want but itās a great balanced game. And thereās tons of things you can learn running with a team that has good communication
I donāt get how yāall pgs keep saying that shit. My off ball player has looooow handles and I draw tons of fouls. Iāll literally grab a rebound and just post up instead of pass to draw a foulš¤£. When I run pg or the dude I run with plays pg we get hell of fouls unless itās a cooomp lock then theyāll get a few plucks
Get good. I grab boards and donāt move. Tons of foul calls or the defender just swiping air
If I throw it with Y (or triangle) I get a nice ark on the ball and itās harder to snag mid air And if I have someone cut I like bounce passes if thereās an open lane that way someone spamming x canāt fly towards it and get a steal
Cuz most pgs think they badass when they do dem crazy dribbles and donāt actually know how to dribble to protect the ball. Any comp pg or iso scorer isnāt fazed by the steals this year. Just weeds out the bums
But I do think interceptor is kinda op. But at the same time people are running 99 steal and not 99 pass acc.
On point š people donāt realize just holding the ball is extremely effective fr. I just gotta give my input bc I donāt want the devs to just see the whinny 2K players complain and unbalance the game where locks are just here to contest shots from ādribble godsā
Yeah if a 99 steal lock gets contact on you thereās a good chance theyāll get a poke animation gotta keep space. The move to avoid that is a moving behind the back. Try it out when a lock is blitzing you and youāll fly past them and have an open lane or an open man. Donāt try a cross over or anything they can stick a hand out on. Behind the backs work wonders for me in a 1 on 1 situation when Iām bringing the ball up court. But like I said if they double you up have the second ball handler ready
Look Iām giving you free game rnā¦. If you get a pass and you have a lock on you donāt just start dribbling. Play smart. Do a jab step to behind the back. Having the ball in your hands before you dribble is when you think about the move you finna make donāt just try to run past them without a set up ooooor you getting plucked. I do this on my 40 ball handle. If I can do it on that build you 70 handle players should be fine. Yāall just play dumb. Adapt
I have 40 ball handle on my off ball build I dont put the ball on the floor if I have a lock on me lmao.
Yeah I like the idea but then I think offense would be way op. As of right now blow bys are easy af and finishing at the rim is almost guaranteed unless youāre running directly into a center (even then timing a contact itās going in). So adding complex layers to steals would need to be followed up by a buff to clamping animations or something to keep balance.
Steals is strong against weak dribblers. 2K lab even did a test on it after I made this thread. With gold unpluckable itās only a 12% chance to get plucked. HOF is even less. Yāall getting plucked bc of bad dribbling. No matter what level yāall have unpluckable if you play dumb in front of a lock ya gonna pay the price.
Finishing is even more OP and barely anyone complains about that tho
Lol when I play rec and the other team is comp thereās gonna be atleast one 99 steal lock if not 2, every time. I can post my damn 2K card if youād like frfr š if Iām on my 55 BH build I do nooot dribble to get open unless itās a drive off a jab step with the ball away from the defender. When I get a board or steal I donāt start dribbling I post up and toss that bitch down court for an assist unless I have a wide open lane
Edit: my ball handle is literally 35 lmao. Itās my pass acc thatās 55 š
They aināt randoms if you know their builds, win %, and are in a party before you walk into rec. Every time I went into rec last year w randoms for a good laugh I got paired with a whole team of slashers. Go find a team that needs the build you have. And the people who throw up looking for posts will actually pass to you for open shots bc they wanna win and not just put up contested shots.
Yeah ones court is a free for all. On my lock most bigs are hard to strip tho if they use post up. If I get into a good position to snag a steal I leave the lane wide open. But thatās always been ones court. Good bigs run that shit.
Defense is fine only people who disagree want easy buckets and an unbalanced game. My ball handling is 55 on my main and unless its a 99 steal lock Iāll draw a foul way more then Iāll get plucked
Ever try a lob pass works wonders for me especially when I have someone in the paint and the defender isnāt in position and is tryna bate a steal
Lmao bro good way to tell me you have no bb iq without saying it. I play pg about half my games in park 3s and rec. go to my replies to other comments and youāll see exactly how I run pg and avoid turnovers. And how I donāt get ripped when Iām playing off ball with a 40 ball handling 55 pass acc
If the bump steal is the pg recklessly dribbling into someone I donāt mind the turnover. And cross body steals are logical when a lock makes heavy contact with the pg in a clamp up situation.
That might be a strength thing and the pg hitting into the defender. Strength on my build helps out a ton this year in random situations. Pgs canāt just push straight thru my lock but my lock is built to guard centers too
Idk my lock has post lockdown on cuz Iām a hybrid and guard 1-5 haha. Iāll still pluck yo shit if you have low post control šš
Was there contact prior to the steal? Thatās the only reach across steals I see is when the defender makes solid contact and reaches when he makes the handler stumble a bit
Yeah I can see where your coming from on interceptor. Glove keeps bad/over/low iq dribblers in check. Interceptor is a little cheesy
Iām not talking interceptions. Idc about those they can get nerfed. My pass is super low and mine donāt get stolen too much, I also donāt pass a crazy amount tho so I have no say on that shit. But on ball steals are fine. Good dribblers are being rewarded tho they donāt get stripped like that, itās only low iq dribblers who get 10 TOs from on ball steals and complain.
Bro just get good or donāt play pg then. Good pgs us locks still canāt handle. If someoneās bag is stupid deep I can get 0 steals and they already made a bucket by the time my reach animation is done
Iāve played against as a pg and played as one. Iāve got 10 steals on low iq 90 ball handlers. And Iāve gotten 0 on ball steals from high iq 70 overalls
I did read it most of those problems are bc you play w randoms. You need a team or you gonna lose. You know how rare it is to get matchmaked with a team of high iq players
Go on the game club people always put up posts needing playersā¦ and nah if I canāt find a team of decent win %s I stay out of rec. I have one dude Iām actually cool with and we run with people we find on Xbox 2k23 game club. My win rate in rec rn is 100% š š
Sounds like you play with randoms. Thatās a big no. If they double press on an inbound have a 2 guard ready to bring ball up. And if they double you read it and pass before they both press up and steal it. Itās like real b ball. When teams full court press thereās more then one option down the court to pass too.
When I play pg I get minimum TOs cuz one lock canāt pluck me when I protect the ball with my body. And if they double up on me thatās a free assist. I feel like if they need steals itāll just make playing pg less iq based. Which is the whole point of playing pg.

Exactly! Itās the āall around buildā and low iq players who mad. Every other year you can mindlessly dribble w no thought process. This year they make you actually think before you act like it should be.
