[MyNBA2k18] Mobile app network connection issues

I've been playing on the app the past couple days trying to get a bit of VC before the game comes out. Most everything works alright, except when I'm trying to combine cards into a pro card. It tries for a fraction of a second then displays a Network Connectivity Error. Has anyone else encountered this, and been able to get around it?
EDIT: courtesy of u/EDMRox23, if you take both cards you want to combine out of every lineup it seems to work.
