Think about all of the bugs and how this game is a step back from 2k13. For example:
When you pass the ball to a open shooter in the corner (or going to the corner on a fast break) and he randomly cuts to the defended hoop and that results in a turnover, I feel like there was supposed to be a leading pass system implemented, but they ran out of time.
I don't think players know who they are this year. In 2k13 on a fast break 3 point shooting bigs would stop and the top of the 3 point line for an open 3. I have Bill Laimbeer in MyTeam mode and he cuts to the basket (defended) more than anyone, especially on fast breaks (this cost me a game about 20 minutes ago).
Speed in general. This is self explanatory. Players moving faster than the ball, recovery speeds, one minute I have a wide open 3 with nobody within 10-15 feet of me and the next minute my shot is blocked.
Players being wayyyyy out of position. I played a game the other day where it was fairly close. I got an offensive rebound and kicked it out to Kevin Durant and he's out near the half court line (this has happened with both Kevin Durant and Kyrie). And in some cases you're so desperate to get your shot off so you aren't blocked you end up heaving it from half court. I think something like Floor Awareness should be a new rating. It would rate a players judgement. I think it could basically be a version of Basketball IQ mixed with defensive/offensive awareness.
Fast break passes to a teammate right next to you. When you're running next to a teammate and you pass him the ball all for it to bounce right pass him and out of bounds with no defender anywhere to be found.
Bounce passes in general. There is a modifier in the game that allows me to choose between chest and bounce passes, but I still get bounce passes occasionally when I want a regular pass. Personally, I think their pass system needs to be overhauled anyway. I do have a suggestion for a way to fix this:
Bounce pass: Double tap A/X Chest pass : Long Press A/X Lob pass (Higher arch than normal/passes with air under them): Quick tap of A/X
For the last two (Chest, Lob) I think they should adopt a Madden style of passing the ball. This would be very helpful on the outlet pass after an offensive rebound to reset your offense.
Players being magnetized to the ball. In a game I played earlier I had a defender sprint towards an open man expecting me to pass him the ball, but instead I bounce pass it to the post and the defender stopped in his tracks and got a bounce pass the was behind him when he wasn't even intending on it.
Stamina needs work too. The way that some of these people play (holding sprint down at all times) needs to affect gameplay. On offense and defense. In real life, if these players played the way that some of these dudes do, they'd be exhausted. That needs to reflect in the game. This alone would cut down on a ton of the BS.
Glitched releases
Player collisions.
Momentum.
Physics.
There is no way that testers played this game and thought "Yeah, people are going to love this". I know this stuff isn't just happening to me. I'd really like to make this a master post of bugs and crap that happens (unless there already is a post about this).
I know people are tired of all the complaining, but if people don't complain, how will 2k do better? I just want to enjoy the game that I spent my money on. If that means switching to EA, then so be it. I'm currently at that point where I'm not committed to either brand like I used to be, so the better game wins.
My way of thinking is, at least EA acknowledged that they have to do better AND they released a big patch out of good faith. 2k hasn't said/done anything to my knowledge.
This was never intended on being that long of a post, but once I got going I couldn't stop. I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but whatever it is can be added later.
