I'll just say it, NBA 2k14 is the worst iteration in years in my opinion. This game is incredibly unpolished and crazy buggy. You'd think that for where we are in gaming today most of these things wouldn't happen, especially with a franchise like NBA 2k. Not only that, but 2k never comes out to acknowledge their many missteps. Even with how much worse Live was (STAY FAR AWAY FROM NBA LIVE), I think EA still has a chance to catch 2k. At least EA knows and acknowledges that they have a problem. 2k has a lot of work to do and if I don't see vast improvements for 2k15, I'm sitting out.
It's not all bad, though. I do like where they're going with MyCareer. They still need to give me more of a reason to play it. As crazy as this might sound, there's more to the NBA than basketball. Add more decisions, like will you go out to celebrate a win, or maybe clubbing friday night and with who. Maybe you can make friends in the league and celebrate his playoff victories with him, or just congratulate him on the W in social media, or even talk trash to whomever you chose. And these decisions should definitely have an effect on how you're percieved. I hate how in the Social Media thing it'll say something like "Jay was furious after tonight's loss, he skipped out on interviews". How about you allow me the choice to be furious or skip interviews. Maybe I wasn't furious and I didn't want to skip the interview. Allow me to do an interview if I please and give me options to reflect upon that loss. Maybe there's a player I'd like to call out, or maybe I'd like to take the blame for the loss. Regardless of what it is, it should reflect upon team chemistry and my relationship with said player.
I think they should remove VC from MyCareer as it pertains to pay and let your player use his actual contract pay for things like cars, clothes, a home, gym times, personal training sessions (with trainers, teammates, a rival) etc. To keep things real/tame there should also be payments/bills so that everybody doesn't own everything. Maybe you can hang out around the house and invite friends to check out your spot. Maybe you can run some games in your backyard/indoor gym. Anything that an actual basketball player does, it should be in this game. Your off the court actions should reflect on court performance as well as reputation. Just going from game to game gets boring in my opinion (my first attempt at a MyCareer only made it slightly past the All-Star break and now on my second attempt I'm about done just before the first break).
It'd be cool if they added something post retirement as well. Maybe you can branch off into coaching or owning a team. If you retire into one of those things then maybe there should be a rating that determines how good you are to start or how much respect your player has from others in the business. There could even be commentary where they talk about your career (Championships or lack thereof, career ending injury (those should be added if not already),
I really didn't expect to write all of that, but what do you guys think? I know that some of this may be too much (this started as a comment on a Chris Smoove video), but this is pretty much my dream game....of course with passing, player collisions and everything else fixed. Did I forget anything?..Oh, yeah, A SALARY CAP FOR MYTEAM AND SERVERS FROM THE 21ST CENTURY!!! FIX THE INPUT LAG!!!!!
