Curious about getting into PMD

I’m assuming this is the correct sub but if not please direct me to it. I’m a huge mainline Pokémon nerd so I’ve seen stuff about PMD but have never played it myself. I think the concept is cool but that’s pretty much all I know about it. I’m curious about the gameplay and battling and if there is a good one to start out with. The one for the switch would be the easiest to get for me but I’m down to buy one for a different system. Any opinions or thoughts are appreciated 😁
