NOTES: This was an amazing choice for a first Broadway show! The company gives stellar performances with special mentions to J. Quinton Johnson's perfect balance of fiery, youthful passion with the more serious, preoccupied, delicate moments; as well as to Gregory Treco's reflective, quietly intensifying portrayal. Kyle Scatliffe and Fergie L. Phillipe play off of each other's energy nicely, and Tamar Greene's vocals are excellent! Enthusiastic cheers can often be heard from the master and her mother (as well as the master singing along with the audience during the end of "You'll Be Back"), and her parents' occasional brief commentary may have been picked up as well.
