I have been hired to teach K-7 music at an international school in Egypt. I have my Bachelor of Education and a Diploma in Jazz Studies, but I have never been trained in how to teach music. I am seeking help in planning to deliver the curriculum (British Columbia, Canada) in a logical, age appropriate sequence. My students will have had little or no training in music before. I will be taking level one Orff training over the summer but I am wanting to get started now on developing an overview. I would be so grateful if anyone would be willing to share anything they think might be helpful to me. I taught K-3 music at this school last year but I was also co-teaching grade 3 and was not able to give the program the attention it deserves. I have asked the school to buy 12 xylophones (but I still haven't heard if that is happening). Any help with year plans, lesson ideas, games, songs, choral music etc will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
