I'm new to synthwave/retro electro, and I absolutely love some of it. The rest just rubs me wrong. Help me find the stuff I like and tell me what r/music likes for Synthwave.

Post Body

I came across a suggested Synthwave 'best of' compilation. I really liked the beginning of the first song, "Stars of the Night" by Dynatron. But the snare and kick sort of gets in the way of my liking a lot of Synthwave I've come across, while looking for what I like. Sometimes it's the best part of the song, so I just have to keep looking.

I also like the song Dust by M.O.O.N., especially the beginning before the drums really kick in. I seem to like the more spacey, ambient synth-y stuff. I can appreciate the snare and kick stuff but I tend to enjoy heavy, fat synth lines and waves. The syncopation(if thats how you spell that) is necessary to the music, but it can ruin it if it's too aggressive.

I started watching Stranger Things, and the title music is exactly what I'm looking for. Something a little more of a song than an intro obviously, but that style is what I seem to like the most. Help me find stuff like I'm describing! I need MOOORE!!

Also please share your Synthwave-ish favorites! Don't be afraid to mention off-shoot genres. Anything closely related, I'd like to be aware of.
