Post Body

I have been having repeated failure colonizing grain jars with spores. I know read up on guides and watched a lot of videos, also had beginners luck success my first attempt a couple years ago. I also hear colonizing from spore is hit or miss, but at this point I think I’m doing something wrong. I purchased 4 popcorn grain jars from a vendor I had success with on my first go. I had some mycelium around the ring if the bottom on all 4 and they stalled out. For a second attempt I purchased 4 more rye jars and haven’t had any signs of mycelium. I am keeping the jars in a box with the lid open to allow for some air exchange but also keeping them away from light. The room is never entered unless I occasionally check on things. Kept at 74-78F. Follow all normal procedures when pinning the jars. Room with no moving air. Gloves, clean all surfaces with alcohol, clean jar port with swab and only remove right before injecting. I heat tip slightly with torch and cool needle with alcohol swab. Recently on the last attempt with the rye I wore a mask.

Any ideas or questions welcome, just want to figure out what I am doing wrong!
