Seeing the recent flurry of some IG posts from notable people associated with the band and the festival bookings I think I would have some fun and do a prediction on the release cycle.
First Aleks post; its unclear if its actually for Muse but them having an Atmos mix for LP9 would be something they may be interested in. The Resistances 7.1 mix comes to mind.
Cristina Acevedo's post hints that mixing is at least scheduled. She would only get involved late into the process as they need press photos and what not for the album merch. They probably are booking her well in advanced as the holidays set in - she probably will get pulled in early next year.
The booking of festival gigs are lining up similar to how Drones was released. The band has been somewhat consistent with their releases so this is my prediction of the timeline:
November 2021 to December 2021: band is probably making the final push now on last minute recording (basically overdub parts and rerecords of individual instruments or last minute additions) and rough mixing. They will break for the holidays and resume next year whatever they have left.
January 2022: rumblings on socials from the band as they start mixing. Probably some hinting from Matt at the albums themes and sounds. Clips of mixing start to surface.
February 2022: official Muse channels start to get their overhaul to match the new album style. Official hints and clips start to appear. Perhaps the title is dropped at this time; but no release date or track names.
March 2022: album announcement (release date and track titles) and first single. We could get a tour run similar to the Psycho Tour - deeper cuts and more intimate.
April 2022 to May 2022: More singles; maybe one every 5-6 weeks?
June 2022: album release; just before the festivals start or just as festival gigs kick off.
If my read on Aleks is wrong and they are actually entering mixing stage now (November 2021) then the timeline shifts massively and our first single (and album announcement) may be January 2022. Album release could then be as early as March 2022. With this the official Muse branding does a literal overnight shift. I think this is very aggressive - that means that the period between holidays (November 29th to December 20th) is the time allocated to mixing.
What are everyone's thoughts on this prediction?
