Trigeminal neuritis

Need my people. Recently, my face started burning so I went to the doctor. He diagnosed trigeminal neuritis and gave me gabapentin. It used to work, but the pain is more frequent and it seems medication is helping less. Has anyone tried surgery, and gotten good results? I am considering them because I don't want to live like this.
