I need to rant, and this happened because I'm trans so I think it fits here.
I made an account with eBay in my childhood. I made it before I knew I was trans and it was attached to my email which includes a reference to my deadname. As I began to transition online I started making new accounts for all of my websites I used because I didn't remember a lot of passwords and didn't feel like using "forgot your password" over and over again for different websites. So June 1 I make an eBay account with my new name and email, and then I just let it sit there. I don't use eBay often anyway so it was just so I could rid myself of my deadname. Que to tonight when I get an email saying that eBay has indefinitely suspended my account due to suspicious activity. I called their support and they said because my account didn't have an address and phone number attached to it it was "unverifiable" so they had to take it down (never mind the fact that somehow the system allowed me to make an account without that "crucial information"???). So I was like "whatever, I'll make a new one and put in my info, no harm no foul." One problem though, eBay utilize a permanent blacklist for all emails from suspended accounts. I can't make a new account with that email because it is on that blacklist and I can't change my old account to that email for the same reason. So now my one email I use for everything is permanently banned from eBay. I am not making a new email account just for eBay.
It's not family drama, it's not a transphobic encounter and it's not even that big of a deal, but eBay permanently blacklisting my email I made specifically to leave my deadname behind rubs me the wrong way, and their solution of "register with a different email address" is laughable.
Thanks for entertaining the ramblings of this woman, have a good day/night ladies.
