I am a 15-year-old transgender girl of color, and I began dating a 16-year-old girl a few weeks ago (around three to four weeks ago). I do not present in a traditionally feminine way; in fact, I have a more masculine appearance due to my broad build and a typically stern facial expression. People have even remarked that I appear intimidating.
As the title suggests, my girlfriend often avoids using my correct pronouns when introducing me to others or referring to me in the third person. Initially, she corrected herself when she made mistakes, but she no longer does so. I have addressed this with her multiple times, and while she insists that she knows I am a girl, she claims to forget occasionally.
When discussing my identity or explaining to someone that I am transgender, she frequently phrases it as, "He's a girl, but he is actually a boy." I have expressed that this language feels disrespectful to me, but she argues that it is easier for both her and others to understand.
My girlfriend has a tendency to become frustrated or upset quickly, as well as to shift back to being happy just as easily. Whenever I bring this issue up, she withdraws for a short time. I am extremely self-conscious about my appearance and identity and find it deeply distressing to encounter transphobic attitudes or discussions. She is aware of this, yet her behavior has not changed.
Given that we have only been dating for a few weeks and lack phones to communicate outside of school, our time together is limited. Despite these challenges, she embodies everything I have ever wanted in a relationship, and I am afraid of losing her. However, the situation makes me uncomfortable, and I am unsure of how to proceed.
Ps(i don't have a supporting family or any friends i talk too after school, so reddit is my fix-all)
Edit: I did dump her after realizing that i wasn't being treated well in the relationship in other aspects as well.
She didn't take it well, and stalked me for a few periods after. Thank you for the support!
