I have done this nail design for years now and always gotten tons of compliments on it and how I do it has been my little secret but today I'm gonna share it with all my fellow trans girlies. 😘 I've never seen anyone else do this despite it being so simple. It's really only works with red but might work with another color. Other colors I've tried don't create the same effect.
Get some red and black polish, some paper towels, and nail polish remover ready. Mentally people yourself to do everything about nail polish wrong deliberately.
Paint a single coat of black. Doesn't matter of it's sloppy or an uneven coat. That's actually better for this trick.
Once it's not quite dry, fold the paper towels into squares and soak up some nail polish remover. Wipe some but not all of the black off, leaving streaks and splotches of black that look like you tried to remove your polish and just gave to half way. (Trust the process)
Take your red polish and paint one single layer ONLY over the top of the mess you left from the black and let it dry completely. The final step is to clean up the black smears you will inevitably leave on your skin and stand in awe of the beautiful pattern this creates as the splotches of black darken the red in some areas and the parts with no black leave the red light.
I figured this out one day and it has been my favorite way to do my nails since. So far I know that red works for sure. Yellow should work. And green, dark blue, and pink do not work because they aren't transparent enough to show the black underneath. White might work as well, idk. I've only ever done this with red because red is my favorite color and I know it works for sure. If you DM me I can send you a pic of what the end result looks like.
