I emailed OHIP to ask about getting PPV with Dr. Wittenberg, because I love her aesthetics and I have a strong preference for PPV over PI. OHIP responded with:
"Vaginoplasty is currently an OHIP-insured service for patients who meet the eligibility criteria. At this time, the peritoneal vaginoplasty or peritoneal pull through vaginoplasty (PPV) technique may be considered as an insured service only when specific eligibility criteria are met. The ministry relies on a physicianâs recommendation and supporting clinical/surgical documentation that demonstrates the surgical indication for a specific technique.
When a prior approval application is submitted, the patientâs provider must include clinical information that clearly demonstrates the surgical indications for PPV in their patientâs clinical circumstance.â
Now, this seems promising, but I have absolutely no idea what âsurgical indicationsâ I could claim for getting them to cover it. I donât need a revision, and pray I never will, and I have plenty of âmaterialâ to work with. So I hoped that someone here had some advice on how they managed to get OHIP on board? Cheers loves, I appreciate any advice you can give!
