[Bill Discussion] Standardize Flag Guidelines I

Post Body

Heres a random collection of a few MtA flags

It is a bit of a mess - most of these are from officialish places such as the subreddit or wikis.

The current guidelines

  • i. The flag of Mount Augusta shall consist of a blue rectangle with a red square in the top left corner or, If on a flagpole, on the top corner on the side touching the pole. The red square shall be of such a size that its side extends halfway across the smaller dimension of the flag.

What this bill DOES NOT do

  • This bill will include a specific statement along the lines of "These flag specifics exist merely as recommendations. Failure to comply cannot be prosecuted." Many have expressed dissatisfaction at e-lawyer strictness surrounding the flag code.

Why even make a bill like this?

  • If its not legally binding why even care??? Anyone is free to depict the MtA flag as they wish however some, especially in 'official' areas, but equally legitimately in 'unofficial' depictions wish to have some guidelines to follow so differences between flags do not appear so jarring.
  • Of course this topic is small and nitpicky - take this as even more of a reason it fits the spirit of MtA. The current guidlines can be kept for in game depictions but some extra areas are brought into question for out of game flags :
    • Flag colors?
    • Flag aspect ratio?
    • Canton size?

I discussed this in discord a few weeks ago and I promptly forgot to post about - small canton ,blue things, mta but its the avg colors of irl national flags

this is a very preliminary discussion so there will be at least one more bill discussion after - squareblob
