Post Body

With a new election coming up, and with the political landscape in MTA more divided than ever, it seems necessary to reform the election process to ensure no candidate is elected with only a small plurality, without the approval of a true majority. As such, we present the following ammendment to Article I, Section B, subsection ii-f of the Constitution:

Striken text: Removed

Bold text: Added

f. Conclusion of Election - Once the election ends, votes must be counted as accurately as possible and ineligible votes disqualified. The results must be documented and publicized on the subreddit., and the candidate with the most votes will then hold the position. In the event of a draw between two or more candidates, another [Election] thread must be created with only those candidates who tied, which will otherwise behave in the same manner as the previous [Election] thread. In the event of no single candidate reaching more than 50% of all valid votes cast, a runoff election will immediately start between only the 2 candidates (or more, in the case of tie) with the most votes. This runoff will otherwise behave in the same manner as the previous [Election] thread. No additional candidates may declare their candidacy at this time. Once a single candidate has achieved over 50% of the valid votes, they will then hold the position.
