This was inspired from a night of boredom and watching sciency people on Youtube.
Currently elections are handled by winner takes all formally known as First Past The Post this is what a lot of countries use including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom to name a few. Well it's a terrible system and we should use something else.
I suggest we use something that adheres to the Condorcet criterion. This basically means the Condorcet winner is the person who would win a two-candidate election against each of the other candidates. This is something FPTP does not guarantee.
Of all the voting methods that satisfy the Condorcet criterion the Schulze method seems to be the most popular. It is used by the likes of some Wikipedia, Gentoo, Ubuntu & Debian, FFmpeg, and the various Pirate Parties around the world.
TL;DR: Winner takes all voting sucks, the Schulze method doesn't (IMO), it's also used successfully elsewhere. You rank candidates in order of preference and fancy math takes care of the rest.
I would include more info but I lack time and it's in the linked wiki articles.
