Announcing the MTA X-Town Express Rail Line (and a plea for a little bit of help)
Post Body

Friends and neighbours, I'd like to announce the near completion of the MTA X-Town Express. Running from our western border all the way through town to our eastern border, this express route will serve not as a point to point railway, but rather a multiple stop route servicing major stops along the 1980 highway. The rail runs under the ice road that was recently constructed to follow the same route. At no point is it wider than the road itself. It will probably be access controlled by a white-list to prevent grief, however getting on the white-list will likely be as simple as not being a problem causing griefer. This project was built for the people and as such, I'd like to make it as easily accessible as possible.

There are a few things I need to sort out before the route can open:

  • Since the rail takes up all the area under the road I need an easement on private lands for the construction of small utilitarian stations. Most of the station will be at y11-y15 and not very wide at all. All I need at other y levels and the surface is a 3x3 area to construct a drop and a service ladder, and a 3x3 pad for the cart elevator to drop people off on. My preferred station locations are noted on the map: http://imgur.com/fRx5KRS

  • Ladezkik, it's my understanding that you manage the CIC in addition to your role in AUDI. In respect of your build, I didn't connect any rails without asking first. There is a small gap on either side of the CIC. If your willing, I'd like to work with you on hooking this together in an aesthetically pleasing way.

  • Weishaar, we've talked about a new Al Ishaar rail station. I would like to connect this rail to that new hub with a short walkway. Let's talk in game or on mumble.

  • Blue, I'd like to do the same with the MTA Metro Hub, a simple connecting walkway. If you're up for it, let's talk and make it happen!

  • Everyone, while the station locations in town are already in the stage of land acquisition and or working with other power players in MTA's transportation scene, there is still room for one or two stations west of Thorne and east of the Metro hub. I'm less familiar with these areas, so location recommendations would be welcome.

  • ND peeps, 5point0 and me talked about the possibility of taking the route through ND out to Duskwood. This didn't happen. There's too much underground stuff right there, but I would love to be able to terminate in a meaningful location like the ND rail station. Can we talk?

  • Does anyone know who owns the bastions around 2824,1979,11? There is a stretch of about 20-30 blocks that I can't place right now. If you could either grant me temporary access or I could provide you with the materials to patch up this short stretch yourself, that would be great!

  • General Thomas, I still have that redstone ore if you want to buy it. I just went out and bought some redstone dust like you suggested. Thanks.

Mad props to those who helped me with the dig and construction. With your amazing assistance, this entire project happened in less than 3 days!
