As the past several days have proven the MTA dereliction process is one of contention. Why do we need to derelict property? Why isn't property held forever?

As one of the few remaining 1.0 players, and an early crafter of the MTA legal system and constitution, I can shed some light on this.

In order to justify dereliction all you have to do is look around the server at the various dead metropolises that exist. This has been the case since early on in Civcraft cities have a natural tendency to grow out. MTA follows this same pattern. What MTA has that separates itself is that while MTA grows out, it also has the ability to recycle the older unused inner core and maintain the environment of an active vibrant city.

It is clear that currently, and in the past, the process has been used to enrich individuals. Even I have proof of my own for that. In this picture you'll see that I had derelicted the property of someone. It was a band of griefers that had come to the server and I had pearled one of them trying to break into my vault. The rest then stopped playing, and I took control of the property. Ron_Paul and I broke their storage room and looted it, and this is what we took. This isn't the only time we did this, and seizing the property of criminals in MTA was widely done through the dereliction process. The wealth in this picture funded much of the early MTA security structure and snitch network. Only a handful have ever seen this picture.

So why am I posting this? I believe in the dereliction process but I think some of you are using it for the wrong reasons. It shouldn't be about personal wealth but about keeping Mt. Augusta active and allowing the city to flourish anew 100 times. If you do take property and there is wealth, document it. Hold it. Reinvest it in new friends or further increasing the city. Donate to the factories. Do something good for the city and not for yourself. Don't be the guy that gives some assholes with a shitty attitude a reason to come in and try and stir our kool-aid.
