[BILL] An Improvement to the Trial System

(preface)
So, I love our courthouse and the trial system. But as we saw with Jixmo, sometimes things don't go according to plan. I believe that 99% of the time it isn't due to some sort of malice, but rather the incredible difficulty in getting everyone together to decide a date and time for the trial, get a judge on, get evidence hosted and posted, etc..

That's the reason for this bill.
(/preface)

(explanation)
This bill aims to allow us to have trials on the mtaugustajustice subreddit, in addition to a trial in game if needed/preferred/available. In the real world, it is important for trials to be conducted at one point and time, with all affected parties and jurors present so that all testimony can be read, emotion can be felt, evidence can be viewed. But all having an in-game trial does for us is provide a 3D realm in which to read text, and a lot of extra steps for viewing evidence and rendering decisions. As such, this bill would allow for a trial to occur on the subreddit over a period of 3 days IRL, from when it is posted to when a decision is rendered. Everyone still has their same roles: the judge will view the evidence and receive the verdict of the jurors, who will also have had plenty of time to view the evidence. To ensure fairness, one head juror will be responsible for communicating their verdict to the judge. The jurors can take their time, discuss in mumble or in game, to eventually reach a decision. I'm shifting the responsibility to choose jurors to the judge, as the current system of shouting "HEY, WHO WANTS TO BE A JUROR" in game seems equally fair.

The best part about this is the role of the defendant. Given 3 days, they can also post screenshots of defensive statements, evidence, whatever, with plenty of time. This will require a stricter following of the right to inform prisoners of trials, but it's not that much of a burden. Now what if the defendant logs after pearling, logs on a week later to see the verdict decided, and gets pissy at not being able to defend themselves?

WE ALREADY HAVE THAT WORKED OUT! :D

The constitution allows for an appeal to be filed by the defendant if they have new evidence to present. This will allow defendants who admit their guilt/have literally no evidence to just serve their time and be done with it, while those who have legitimate grievances can easily start a new thread and hold an orderly and fair appeal trial.
(/explanation)

(TL;DR)

This bill allows for trials to occur on the mtaugustajustice subreddit. Trials will have 3 day lengths. Defendants who totally miss it can easily make an appeal for another trial if they have evidence. In game trials can still happen. Yay justice.

(/TL;DR)
