In S01E04. How did Freddie know the undercover cop's real name was Nick?

Is this an oversight in the show?
Because in the previous scene, Ray asks the undercover cop what is real name is and he says Nick.
Then straight after Ray asks Freddie if he's seen Nick, and Freddie instantly knew who he was talking about?
