Moving to LA in next three months or so. Will probably be commuting to Vegas for my job for a month or so before securing employment in LA. I've read that living as close as possible to work is essential, but won't initially know where that is. Thinking of renting an Airbnb for two or three months until I get it all sorted. Is this a good idea? Any other suggestions? Should I just come down for four or five days and look at some apartments in person instead, and maybe aim for a six or seven month lease in case I need to move later to get closer to work? My budget for apartment is maybe $2600 per month max, but would prefer more around $2,200 if possible. Can theoretically pay a little more temporarily for the airbnb.
Also, my credit is not great, bounces around between 660 and 680-ish on credit karma. Will this make renting difficult? I have a solid six year rental history in Vegas.
Finally, my husband has a friend that lives in North Hollywood. He ideally would like to live somewhere in that area or close-ish. We like Burbank and Glendale, and Sherman oaks area seem ok too. North Hollywood feels a little more sketchy to me based on my prior visits there. Hubby would like to get a job in West Hollywood if possible, in retail, restaurant, or bar. Just seeking ideas about living in that general area either temporarily or more permanently depending on how my job situation shakes out, since my job is our primary source of income.
My priorities for living area beyond the work commute is just being someplace relatively safe that has good access to grocery, shopping, and decent restaurants. I'm ok with a slower more suburban feel. Don't need to be in the middle of the action. Happy to commute to the bars and nightlife when needed.
Thanks in advance for any advice provided.
They will ask for LA paystubs. Do Airbnb first.

They will prob just skip you and rent to someone else that shows ties to the city. Transplants are kind of iffy as they are always coming and going. Landlords prefer stability and renting to someone who has an actual job here.
