Hi, y'all! I'm a youngish (30 yr old) insurance professional hoping to move from Seattle to Vancouver next March. I've contacted some local recruiters to get a feel for the job market and get their help. So far, all of them have told me that most companies don't provide relocation funds when hiring someone from out of the country. That's totally cool; I expected that and am happy to foot the bill if I can move.
But they've also let me know that I would have a greater chance of getting hired if I had the visa process handled myself before applying for jobs. I'm confused by that. How do I get a work or temporary visa when I don't have a job there yet?
Please let me know if you've gone through the visa/immigration process yourself and can give me tips to start.
Thanks!
