Welcome to the Movie Suggestion Megathread, where you the people get to decide what movies r/Movie_Club watches for an entire month!
Here's how it works:
- Step One: Suggest your movie!
You post the movie name, the year, and then a link to the IMDB page. Don't be afraid to plead your movie's case or post other relevant links. Anything goes as long as it's on topic. If a suggested movie is changed to a different movie for any reason, it will be automatically disqualified! You are allowed a maximum of 6 submissions per account and only one submission per comment!
- Step Two: vote for the movies you want to watch!
It's a simple case of upvoting the movies that you want to watch with us on Cytube. For the newbies, upvoting means clicking the little up arrow next to the comment of your choice. Each week, the two movies with the most votes will be the ones that we are going to watch together that weekend! If you want to pick the winning movies, you NEED to vote so don't be shy!
Unless mentioned otherwise, showings are always on our Cytube channel on Friday and Saturday at 6 and 8 PM UTC/CST.
Of course, the most important rule is:
DON'T FORGET THE THEME!
Every month will have a different theme, designated in the sidebar.
For This Month......
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Hey all, it's u/WheeledJustice here.
When I was a kid, my family had a huge collection of VHS tapes. They were kept in a drawer in the living room.
Some of them had those generic cardboard slipcovers but most had these ginormous, awesome-looking plastic clamshells that I absolutely loved staring at. Every single one of those clamshells meant something different to me, whether it be a cherished memory of a Disney movie or watching The Grinch again as a family Christmas treat but there was one in particular that always stood out to me the most.
I LOVED Aladdin and the King of Thieves.
Every time I had the opportunity to steal the living room TV and VHS player for myself, I would watch it. Every time I went to my grandmother's house, which was very often because she lived just 6 houses away, I'd bring it with me so I could watch it there (I wish that was a joke).
I watched Aladdin and the King of Thieves so much that I ended up literally breaking the tape. I took it out of the VHS player one day and the top of the tape just popped off. I tried watching it again after that but it was just a mess of static and still frames.
But I'll always have the memory of watching it, of loving it, of the movie itself. That's what this month's theme is about.
All of those movies that couldn't help but memorize as a kid or that you casually quoted to your friends growing up or that you watched every opportunity you got.
Your personal Childhood Classics.
