Iām curious for suggestions for movies where, even if thereās conflict along the way, the characters end up overall better off for their experiences of sexual exploration or expanding boundaries.
For example (spoilers for older movies), in Sirens the minister and his wife end more sexually open with each other for their experiences at the artistās house. Even something like Room in Rome where the ending is ambiguous but likely positive with the two agreeing to go their own ways but then calling out to each other at the very end.
As a counter example (and what prompted this post), I had Trunkfish referred to me and just watched it. (Not that good, though had some well acted scenes). It had the plot arc that Iām looking to avoid: Character or characters feel a need to change something about their sex life. They engage in a bunch of new things and all is going well. Then a boundary is crossed and everything turns bad, leaving them worse off than where they began.
What Iām looking for are arcs with character growth. Things like: Character or characters feel a need to change something about their sex life. They engage in a bunch of new things and some go well and others donāt. They learn things about themselves along the way from the experiences and conflicts, leaving them better off than where they began.
Basically looking for movies about sex that arenāt another ācouple decides to have a threesome and destroys their livesā.
