Wasnât called DEMF at first, early on but def not first. We all just called it tech fest until it started gaining more attention and developing âcoolerâ festival names annnndddddd it was FREE!!!

I really donât need to do a âquick google searchâ bcuz Iâve lived here all my life and have been going since the start, over 20 years ago. However, the misunderstanding here Iâm thinking is the âofficialâ name thing. At the very beginning it was known locally as just âDetroit Techno Festâ i.e. why everyone that is old enough to remember called it âTech Festâ the first couple years. Then Detroit Electronic Music Festival which obviously that got shortened to âDEMFâ after a year or so. I promise u, no one in 2000-2002 called it DEMF. Can we get some locals in here to chime in plz? Either way, ur meme is still backwards but donât worry, most ppl wonât kno the damn difference.
