Reducing dose from pen

Post Body

Hello. I'm posting this with my wife who has been on Mounjaro for a few months and has lost weight really well so far. She isn't on Reddit so posting from my account. Having been on 2.5mg for a month, then 5mg for a month, she's just moved to 7.5mg, but since her first dose on 7.5mg she's been feeling unwell and struggling to keep food down. We don't know whether it is the mounjaro that's causing it as she has other unrelated gastric issues as well (diverticulitis and acid reflux), but we do wonder whether she has moved up doses too quickly - we've seen posts on this forum from people who have stayed on a dose for many months rather than moving straigt up.

So our question becomes - if she wanted to drop back down to 5mg, but she has three doses of the 7.5mg pen left, is it as simple as only turning the pen two thirds of the way through to the full dose mark and injecting that to get a 5mg dose out of her 7.5mg pen? Mathematically that would seem to make sense, but I'm not sure whether there is an issue with doing that, or whether you need to have a certain amount of liquid injected overall? I've searched for answers in previous posts and see people splitting doses and adding bac water to make it up, but my assumption is that this is only needed when trying to spread out the doses for longer, to keep the medicine well preserved? Is there any need if we are just trying to reduce the dose she's receiving? We know that there would be some of the medicine wasted at the end of her pen if we reduce the dose this way, but we're not so concerned about saving that - just getting her dose back down to 5mg for now and then we will re-order at the 5mg level for the next lot.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
