Why is MJ not on formularies as often as Ozempic is ?

Had a friend tell me his wife (Medicare) is looking to switch to MJ (T2D) from metformin. And I saw tneir formulary doesn’t include MJ but includes ozempic (with PA needed )

is this common w many govt plans ? Or in general w plans. Wondering why this is the case as the drugs aren’t that different in price. M

ironic if this is the case cuz Lilly is American company and novo isn’t.

also. Side question for those who dont have coverage of MJ. Do insurance plans make switches easy ? If both Oz and Mj are Covered ?
