Dreaming of the Perfect Roast: Converting a Breadmaker Motor for My Coffee Roasting Venture

Post Body

Hello! I'm on a quest to achieve the ultimate coffee roast and could use your expertise. 🌟☕

I'm repurposing an old breadmaker into a dedicated coffee bean mixer. I'm not using its heating elements, and need the motor to just run continuously. My challenge lies in adapting its unique 50W DC motor - while most conversions like this in various coffee roasting forums typically involve AC motors, mine is firmly in the DC camp.

Here's where I'm at: I've got the basics of splicing down, but I'm navigating uncharted waters when deciding what exactly to splice. The goal is to have this motor run continuously with a simple on/off switch, powered directly from a standard US AC wall outlet.

My question to you brilliant minds: For a seamless transformation, would a 0.4amp AC-DC power converter do the trick? Or is there a better approach I haven't considered?

Your insights will not only help power my project but also fuel my coffee dreams. Thanks in advance for helping me get one step closer to coffee nirvana! ☕💡
