I remember back in the early 2000's Honda and Suzuki were basically THE 85's to be on and they had a solid amateur program. A lot of the fastest kids in the country were on Suzuki and Hondas ( Honda had The Alessi brothers, Suzuki had Nico Izzi, Ian Trettle, Davi Milsaps etc).
I went to a local MX race a few weeks ago (for the first time in in over 10 years) and noticed there was not a SINGLE honda or suzuki in the 85 or supermini classes. In fact, 90% of the class (maybe even more) was made up of some variation of a KTM.
I checked the 2022 loretta lynns results and not a single Honda or Zuk in the 85 or supermini classes there either.
Why does no one ride the Honda crf150?
I assume Suzuki basically pulled out of Amateur racing like they did pro MX? Crazy to think all the fast kids used to be on the RM85
