Any recommendations for starting gear as cheap as possible that isn't...useless? (I've heard cheap can sometimes equate to fake, relatively useless gear)
I kind of want it all to match in colour and not to get full black, as to calm my father about visibility (ik its not the full story but shows him I'm attempting to)
Helmet, Jacket, Trousers, Gloves, Boots. (considering Suits)
If possible, for under £400 in total.
There is quite a lot of good second hand stuff out there. Gear bought for pillion riders that never got used more than once, gear from people who had a scary experience early and don't want to ride anymore, etc, etc.
As someone said above, the word "waterproof" usually means expensive and leaky, so avoid that of you are on a budget.
I wouldn't skimp on the helmet, but if you are looking at a second hand helmet, don't go near one with any substantial scratch. Critical helmet damage can sometimes appear as just a scratch or dent in the outside. Be really careful with your helmet check
