My first gen Moto G sometimes doesn't send text messages even when it shows a timed label showing that it is sent. Am I the only one experiencing this?

I ran into this trouble this morning when my friends asked if I received their texts this morning (which I did and have responded) but when they showed me their phones, neither of them received my response.

I knew I had full reception when I sent them a text and my calls works too when I called them shortly after. I tried texting them again and it worked then.

This is not the first time that it happened and this can be a very frustrating experience. I just would like to know if anyone else here is experiencing this?

I am on T-Mobile's prepaid plan by the way (unlimited texting and data, 100 min). My sim card also doesn't get detected from time to time for which I must remove it and put it back in there.

Could it be my sim card, phone, or service?
