Trying to transplant moss..

There's a creek that runs through my property which I'm trying to transplant moss from 50 feet upstream to where the soil is being eroded (closer to the drainage ditch by the road). Is there any particular way to accomplish this or am I doing the thing by digging up plenty of mud and water along with whatever transplanted moss I'm moving to the new location? Central Arkansas, not sure if that matters much. Thanks for any advice!! I ♡ THIS SUBREDDIT
