Picking your real estate agent. Etiquette and rules?

We're buying our first home. We've talked to a real estate agent that QuickenLoans recommended, and also found a great local real estate agent "heather".

We want to choose Heather as our real estate agent. Is there some formal process? Do I need to let the other agent know we won't be using her? I'm new to this and wasn't sure the proper way to handle it.

Heather setup a search that emails us listings every day. The other agent has been very light touch so far, and we prefer Heather.
