Bank is refusing to foreclose on overvalued home. Advice?
Post Body

Long story short: my father passed away in July, owing about $26,000 on his home, which is currently valued at $7,500.

The house is not fit to live in, and as such, the bank is dragging their feet on taking the property. At the same time however, they're sending me letters weekly demanding that I personally (not my father's estate which is also worthless) start making the mortgage payments or they'll turn me (again, not my father's estate) over to "debt collectors."

I know this is illegal (my father's debt can't carry over to me since I never co-signed anything for him), and have told them so, but since the house (and the bank) are in Eastern Kentucky, their response was literally "We don't care about that law, we'll just keep hounding you until you pay up."

I have until February to finalize closing out my father's estate according to the Court, but the bank says they won't foreclose due to the condition of the house, literally threatening to drag it out for years. Asking the Court for help has proven useless as the Judge's response was literally "Find some way to settle with the bank and get that closed out."
