PS4 region lock?

Been trying to look this up, but haven't found any posts that are recent as of latest patch. I just got MKXL for my PS4, and I'm in US, but vendor sent me an EU copy (noticed PEGI18 rating on box). Is the PS4 still region locked? I want to be able to play with my friends and local players in USA. Will I be able to, or should I return it and get an NTSC copy to make sure I can play?
Not interested in making alternate PSN accounts or anything like that.
