MK1 Help (Tekken Player) Struggling Here

Can anyone offer some advice? I am a casual gamer, and I am finding even the tutorial combo's hard to achieve... I can't even press the buttons fast, or slow enough for special moves during a fight.
Plus, I've been a Tekken Player all my life, so I'm personally finding a seperate button for block is difficult to master.
I really want to get into this... but im just not finding it to be as fluid as Tekken... The visuals alone are an amazing reason to play... Help lol
