How do they get away with giving a 15 minute break for a 6 hour shift?
Post Body

During induction day I was given 2 choices to opt in for verbally.

15 minute break for a shift that was 4 hours plus.

30 minute break for working over 6 hours.

Given my contract, I opted in for 15.

But during a shift that was 6 and a half hours, I split my break into 2 parts. My colleague always splits their break.

Getting back from my second part of break my manager pulls me aside and says it's not allowed and I'm only allowed a 15 min break unless I work over 7 hours and 45 mins.

Yet on the gov website you're allowed a legal minimum of 20 mins break after a 6 hour shift.

If anyone could explain that would be awesome.

You get 30 for going over 6 hours?

You do get 30 if you're under 18 though
