Hey everyone,
I don't take little taxis often because they are pretty expensive, but I'm confused as to how them picking up multiple fares at once influences the original counter.
For example, let's say that me and two other people are going from the train station to "Hay Ryad" in general. I'm going all the way to the Marjane, and the other two people get off before me, either paying the fare on the counter when they get off, or paying some other amount. However, the detour incurred by these two other fares has caused the counter to go to 40dh, for a trip that usually takes about 25dh. Am I expected to pay the 40dh, do I have to negotiate with the driver before the ride starts, or do I simply have to slowly start complaining about the unreasonable price to have him adjust it?
Furthermore, another time I took a similar trip, from Hay Ryad to the train station, and the driver had to drop off another fare first. However, he didn't reset the counter, and I noticed that at the time that the other fare was dropped off, the counter was already at 14dh. I brought this up to him, and after a bit of back and forth and some hefty lamenting, he straight-up asked me how much the ride should be. All these events make me think the counter doesn't really hold much weight, and only comes into play when it's possible for the driver to rip people off/make more money than usual.
