Just dropping a podcast recommendation for yall. I listen to a lot of TC podcasts and consume lots of media on YouTube, but I've never come across a comedic take on TC cases. These ladies cover huge cases (lots of crossover into Morbid), but the episodes are bite size (30-45 min) and essentially they laugh at the insane nuances between cases - how absolutely wild people can be, how people are able to keep getting away with things, etc. When I listened to my first episode, I was nervous that having a comedic take TC could be dangerous. I've listened to many episodes now, and they've never crossed a line (ie - taken things seriously when they should). I think of this podcast as pieces of candy in the TC media world. You know, keeping in mind what you're consuming so you don't somehow desensitize yourself to the more serious bits.
Anyways, I just listened to this episode while walking the dog and I lol'd through it whilst finding it interesting. ( Tell No One - Graham Young: https://open.spotify.com/episode/4TzUr6zcOr0Z7xVEcgyUaD?si=50kK3VLYTYacj32rhAKC2w )
I've learned from Morbid that women have historically, generally been much more educated about poison and poison people at much higher rates than men so I was curious to learn about how this Graham guy became completely obsessed with poison early in his childhood (and of course his madness ensued, along with being Hitler obsessed). It's set in the UK in the 50s, where even a kid could just go to the pharmacy and pick up unregulated poison.
In fact, the case they covered right after Graham's was over Genene Jones, a pediatric nurse who stole powerful medications and injected children with them practically every chance she had alone with them. Lots of children and families suffered, and she was able to get away with it for a very long time. That one is more modern, so it's extremely odd she was able to do it to a guesstimated 60 kids I believe due to her hidden, religious hysteria. 😳
I just think this podcast lies in a very unique TC case space and can maybe be a nice break listen for those who stay on more solemn content and the news. I was SHOCKED to see they only have like 500 followers on Instagram. The pod is severely underrated. And again, they never cross the line and they only cover old, very eccentric cases that lend themselves to a funnier social commentative view, ya know?
