Do I need a GPU for Sunshine streaming? If so, what's the minimum for 1080p not gaming needs?

I have a Linux VM on my server, which has a Ryzen 7 5700x and no GPU. The performance is seriously lacking compared to my gaming PC, it's super laggy and unusable. I wanna know if it's because of the lack of GPU or something else. If I do need a GPU, is there a minimum recommend spec one that I can get?
