Hello MoonCat owners!
It has come to our attention a visual error is occurring on OpenSea currently when a MoonCat is repeatedly unwrapped and re-wrapped, which allows users to place both an Acclimated version as well as an unofficially wrapped MoonCat up for auction.
After investigation, while this may unintentionally allow a user to offer up a MoonCat twice, it does not create two versions of the same MoonCat; if an auction of a non-existent MoonCat gets purchased, the transaction will, to the best of our knowledge, fail.
We will be working with OpenSea to remedy this loophole, but as it will be next week at the earliest before this is resolved (according to OpenSea staff members in their Discord judging how swamped their tech team is right now), in the interest of full transparency we are letting the community know this issue exists, but will be corrected.
If there is any questions of a MoonCat’s legitimacy, please scroll down in the OpenSea page to the "Trading History" section, make sure "Transfers" are selected as visible, and see if the MoonCat has ever been transferred to "NullAddress". If it has NOT ever been transferred to NullAddress, then it's a legitimate MoonCat.
If a MoonCat has been transferred to the NullAddress and you want to make certain where it actually is (if it's currently Acclimated or Old-Wrapped), the iron-clad definition of that is to go to the MoonCatRescue contract (https://etherscan.io/token/0x60cd862c9c687a9de49aecdc3a99b74a4fc54ab6#readContract), and put the MoonCat's ID into the getCatDetails function. If that function output shows that the "owner" is "0x7C40c393DC0f283F318791d746d894DdD3693572", that MoonCat is currently wrapped in the old wrapper. If it shows the "owner" is "0xc3f733ca98E0daD0386979Eb96fb1722A1A05E69", that MoonCat is currently wrapped in the "Acclimated" wrapper. Auctions which do not match the wrapper type should be avoided at this time.
We expect this only affects a very slim number of MoonCats, but if you need further assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out via Twitter, or message us here on Reddit and we’ll be happy to take a look.
