Gen 2 engine options
Post Body

Bought a 1995 SR that was in great shape a year ago and have fallen in love with it, itā€™s the perfect winter/mountain car to my combo. The only issue is it doesnā€™t like some of the mountain road that I force it up.

Car just recently started sounding like it might have a stuck lifter (real loud valve tick on one valve that goes away very suddenly) and it got me thinking about power options.

What is the go to for these cars for engine swaps? Iā€™d assume most newer monster engines donā€™t share a bell housing bolt pattern so I donā€™t think thereā€™s any drop in options.

Iā€™ve seen some videos on YouTube about a guy that put a 5.3 in his? I like the idea just hate to turn this car into another 5.3 swap.

Any roots supercharger options? The car doesnā€™t need to be a power monster by any means so an extra 50-75hp might be plenty it needs. Anything so I donā€™t have to keep the gas pinned going 60 at 4.3k rpms while I head into the mountains.

I have an extensive background in working on cars and design engineering so nothings too big of a challenge just more of a time ā€œis it worth itā€ constraint.

Iā€™ve also heard of some people doing 1UZ swaps, is that gunna be any easier then any other generic v8 swap?

I just hate the idea of swapping in a different trans mission/transfer case and loosing the locking center diff.

Any info is appreciated.
